Stockholm Junior Water Prize India (SJWP India)

The Stockholm Junior Water Prize India (SJWP India) is a prestigious competition that seeks to inspire young minds to address some of the most pressing water challenges facing the world today. Launched in partnership with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI)and sponsored by Aquamap (Center for Water Management & Policy), IIT Madras), and hosted by IIT Madras, SJWP India engages students from grades 9-12 to propose innovative solutions to issues such as water pollution, scarcity, and governance. The competition encourages creativity and practical thinking, offering a platform for young innovators to showcase groundbreaking projects that aim to improve water sustainability. In its inaugural edition in 2024, SJWP India received an overwhelming response, with 400 applications from 23 states and 12 finalists representing diverse regions of the country. The national winner, Mannat Kaur, had the honor of representing India at the global Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition in Sweden, marking India’s debut at this international platform. This initiative reflects India’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and inspiring future leaders in environmental conservation.
